What a mess! Can you guess what is it? Keep reading and you'll find out.

Lately the life of the seedlings are very hard, some will never  reach maturity. Between the house sparrows that use the leaves for building nest and chicken that scratch the dirt in its quest for worms, i have to find a way to keep it safe. Broken pots, coconut shell, plastic mineral bottles, wood and piece of broken brick can be used like an armour to protect my sunflower seedling. While waiting for my Autumn beauty seeds to mature i start with seedling of other variety to prevent cross pollination. The seedling will be under cloche until it reach the height of about 18 inch.

  2. I can totally relate on feathered friends and other critters trying to destroy all your hard work in the garden! I've never seen broken pots being used as protection for seedlings--that's a good idea. Good luck!

  3. Lynn cuba protect sunflower dgn cara pakai botol plastik tu tp cuaca yg extrem panas menyebabkan pokok layu & mati. Sbb lubang udara kecil & bahang panas dr plastik tu kot..

    1. Lynn, bunga matahari perlukan baja, air dan matahari yang banyak untuk subur, pastikan lynn siram banyak air sebelum matahari meninggi, kalau layu sbb botol kecil guna botol minyak/ mineral water 5 kg, pas tu tebuk lubang kat atas ( cucuk je dgn puntung rokok yg menyala).
