Today one of my pineapples is ripe for picking. This is the second pineapple
that i harvest this week. As usual i almost cut the pineapple before i
remember that i have to take the photo for my blog! This is Josephine cultivar
so the fruit is not big but what it lacks in size it makes up by early fruiting.
For next 2 months i think I’ll have pineapple every week. Even though the
entire pineapple seedlings were planted at the same time, Josephine is the
first to fruit and there are cultivars which just bear fruit which translate to
a long season of pineapple. In the tropic pineapples are available year round,
but rarely we can eat sweet pineapple because it was harvest too early for
cooking purposes or to be eaten as fruit salad. That is the reason why i plant
pineapple in pots. Freshly
picked ripe pineapple is sweet and crunchy. Um! Yummy :-)

It takes two years from planting to harvesting, isn't it so? Dah tak nampak pot dah. Kalau tak silap dia ni suka panas kan?
ReplyDeletetak sampai 2 tahun, tanam nov 2011. kena panas petang je sbb dah tak ada ruang nak letak pasu tu, yang penting masa buah nak masak jangan siram supaya buah tu manis
Deletesemuanya berbuah!
ReplyDeleterezeki!!
DeleteWow...lucky you. that looks lovely. I've been wanting to plant this josapine pineapple, as I've read it to be very sweet. but haven't been able to get my hand on it.
ReplyDeleteif you live in malaysia you can buy Josephine in Hypermarket, break the leaves end from the fruit, stick it in a potful of dirt and water it everyday.
DeleteMmmm it looks great!I think that your pineapple have a unique taste. It is very interesting how the fruit grows up:)
ReplyDeleteI knew you'll comment on this topic :-) Pineapple that i ate in Vienna is a little bit sour than in tropic but it taste like pineapple, home grown pineapple taste much better. You should grow it in a pot. You buy a pineapple, save the leafy end for planting, come on! Be adventurous i managed to germinate blackberry/raspberry from seed:-)
