Weekend gardener



Lately I’ve been very busy; i only managed to do gardening work between 1-2 hr on the weekend. Since last 2 weekends i managed to transplant few rooted figs cutting into polybag and pot. I notice that fig growing faster after i transplanted it.  This weekend i transplant a few more and took out a few rooted cutting from underneath the plastic cover for hardening before i transplant it next weekend.

  1. Very nice! What varieties have borne fruit? Have you planted any in ground yet? I live in Singapore and am interested in what varieties will do well in the tropics.

  2. i plan to grow it in a pot since during raining season water will get stagnant in my land and it will drown the fig roots, There are varieties that are well adapted and fruited in Indonesia .CULTIVAR

    2. 1.Indonesia, but the cutting is very expensive between 8-15 usd/cutting
      2.ebay make sure you bid/buy from seller whom ship worldwide because USA has a very strict rules regarding shipment of plant material in & out of USA.

    1. there are sellers who ship worldwide. ie sal's, desert king, conadria, lemon fig cutting from US, fico nero and lattarula from canada,Natalina fom italy

  6. Yes Thanks. I have ordered from ebay desert king, lattarula, Italian brooklyn white fig. They have rooted and sprouting leaves. Awaiting arrival of black mission, natalina, melenzana cuttings. My concern with growing figs in tropical region is that leaves are very susceptible to rust due to our heavy rains. Any advice to prevent this?

    1. i put my potted fig plant under rain shelter, plenty of sun but no rain.
